She is originally from uMzimkhulu, southern Kwazulu Natal. Mama Dlamini started working in Johannesburg during the late sixties because she wanted to better her life and that of her family. After working as a domestic worker for 40 years, she now cannot carry on like she used to as she has high blood pressure. One of the things she does, is sew clothes in her part time but her intention is to start a business in clothing full time. “After I have been using my machine for thirty two years, I would like the company ( Singer) to please assist me to have a new machine that I would like to use to open my business,” she tells. “I would like to use the machine to design school clothes.” She says, she started sewing in 1981 because she always believed that her talent lies in clothing.
